LO3 - Be able to pitch ideas on a proposed media product and respond to questions.
After viewing my pitch video, I received an email from the client with the following questions:
1. How will other story lines ensure that the target audience continues to watch the soap opera?
2. Only one parental figure is mentioned - what are your plans for other parents or guardians?
3. What about Evermore itself? What does it look like and what are your inspirations?
Responding to Feedback from Questions
1. In order to keep the target audience interested within my soap opera and ensure that it is a long running soap I have developed further storylines involving other characters such as Bella and Ellie which follow themes such as mental health and teen pregnancy. This will make sure that the target audience remain interested within the soap opera and do not lose interest after the original planned storyline. By ensuring that the storylines that continue within the soap opera still target younger people age 15-24 by focusing on relatable issues, the soap will not only attract more younger people as time goes on, growing the audience, but will become a cult classic.
2. Within my plan for my soap opera I have only included Danielle's mother Sam. In order to further develop this and make my soap opera both appealing to an older audience I intend to include other parents and guardians of the main 3 characters along with adults on the side such as the shop owner, landlord - creating protagonists and antagonists. Furthermore, I will interlock the storylines within each other - for example when people are struggling with mental health I will encorporate the parents into it by the way that they react and possibly struggle with what is going on with their children.
3. The town of 'Evermore' was originally inspired by Taylor Swift's album 'Evermore'. My idea for the of town of 'Evermore' came from inspiration from other soap operas that are aimed more towards a younger audience such as 'Hollyoaks' and 'Neighbours'. Within this, the soap operas are set within a small town. 'Evermore' is a similarly small town - surrounded by countryside and a sub-rural town. It has one main street including a small shop, local pub and the Italian restaurant that is a popular location within my soap opera. Including this, there is a canal along the the centre of the town, cobbled streets and a line of new large houses - with large glass windows looking over the town. There are flats above the shops and pub along with the local high school being a few streets away. On the outskirts of the town there is an old abandoned train line with abandoned warehouses - a node to what the town used to be before work moved towards the city.
